i have a pentium compaq amada 4160T laptop that displays the error message '162-systems options not set' from start up.
each time i power up the laptop, it does a RAM check and then displays the error. after sometime, it will boot to windows. sometimes, it will not boot at all for a whole day. i have tried several times to enter SETUP by pressing f10, f1, delete , immediately after the RAM check from start up, but it will not go to setup.
pls, what can be done to remedy this problem.

According to HP, F10 is supposed to be correct. They say about that error: "Configuration incorrect. Real-Time Clock (RTC) battery may need to be replaced. Battery life is approximately three to five years. Solution:
1. Run Computer Setup.

2. Reset the date and time under Control Panel.

3. If the problem persists, replace the RTC battery"

i suspect that the battery may actually be the cause.
