Immediately after downloading the Microsoft
October 15, 2003 Security Updates, it now takes 3-5 attempts to start Windows 2000 Professional with failed attempts requiring
a power shutoff.....CTRL ALT DEL won't work.

This never happened before my 10/15/2003
update session.

Windows hangs up during the processing of the
lower right tray icons or during the painting of the icons on the desktop.

How can I solve this problem?

This might work. Boot in Safe mode and then use Tweak UI to rebuild the icons. If you haven't got it use Google to locate the site and download. Please give us some feedback.
