hi,
im thinkin of buying a website for my online CV / portfolio. i have neva bought 1 b4, and dont really understand everything! do i buy the name, then sum space? do i rent, or buy out right? if u know any good sites, or maybe sum 1 cud tell me what 2 do.

You don't actually buy a website name when you start a website. You pay a fee that can be monthly or yearly to register a name. If you later decide that you don't want the name anymore and quit paying the registration fee, the name becomes available again to someone else if they want it. That being said, I like using a website called Netfirms, www.netfirms.com ,to set-up websites. They offer a lot of options when getting webspace and can set you up with the web name as well.

Hi,

As Randy says, you can register any name not already taken.

Some registrars will host it for you free.

But if your purpose is to put up your CV and have people find it, a better option might be to find a site that puts CVs on file for those in your specialty.

yea i will also post my CV on promo sites, and agencies. but i jus need a good site to show my art work and multimedia peices mainly.
