well basically, if the page contains mainly text, you can use tables to stretch the the users screen size

however if images are used, you can really have an automatic image resizing

basically you want to put all you data in a table, and set the height and width to 100%

do you have the website uploaded yet so we can get a visual? usually i'd say the best way to adapt to all screen resolutions is to divide things up by percentages instead of pixels i.e. width="20%" instead of width="150" or w/e

Use percentages within tables so it moves with the screen res. Personally I design on a 1024*768 monitor, but I aim to satisfy both that size and look reasonably good at 800*600. Anything below that and it will look cramped but they should be upgrading anyway; anything above that and my pages will still stretch to fit. I do not provide for PDA, WAP or WebTV, the latter is dated, the other two are still too new and minority.

Nick, I think you had better concentrate on the size of the files you have opening on your home page first. I have a DSL connection and I waited for at least 2 minutes for the page to download and open. I didn't feel like waiting any longer so I never got to view your website. This is way too long. You will never have anyone hang out much longer to see what is on your site. The average time for page download should be measured in seconds, not minutes.

Randy, I think there was a temporary glitch either at your end or Nick's ISP. The page took 2 seconds to open for me; that's including the annoying pop ups.

You need to put all your content inside a table. Make sure the tables width and height are set at 100% as previously stated, if you don't understand I suggest you look for some tutorials. You can have other table inside that table also.

!Hmm!

Starts a table:
<table bgcolor="#F0F0F0" background="image.gif" width="450" height="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td>

Content goes here.

Use </td><td> to create several cells across the page.

Use </td></tr><tr><td> to start a new row.

Use </td></tr></table> to close it all off when done.

You can have 'bgcolor' or 'background' or both within <table>, remove whichever you don't use. You can also have 'bgcolor' within individual <td> cells to vary colours.

You can use <td width="25%" height="100"> to set that cell to a fixed size or as percentage of table area.

Change the values shown in these samples as needed. If you don't want to set a size, set the value to zero.

If you have problems, use www.htmlgoodies.com for basic HTML tutorials. That's all, this is basics, so if you can't figure the useage from this...
