I have been hosting my own web site for years, www.chrismr.com
I am thinking about using godaddy.com as the host. My ISP is speakeasy, and this is the reason why I am thinking about using a web hosting company: I am using Verizon FIOS for the TV, I am not able to use Verizon FIOS internet portion right now since I host my own web site. I would like opinions as to if I should switch to a dedicated hosting company, and leave speakeasy.

Thanks
chris

If you do decide to use paid web hosting, I suggest you at least check out 1and1.com

One of my customers just signed up with Godaddy and they have him on a server with over 10,000 other domains. I am experiencing a 20 second lag almost every time I try to connect with my FTP client.

I manage 3 other websites hosted with 1and1 and the most domains on any one of the servers is 212.

You can get to 1and1 by going to:

http://www.columbuscycleandatv.com/

and click on the 1and1 icon at the very bottom of the page.

Godaddy is too costly for me to host my site.

I'm using currently expertwebhost.net where the basic startup plan just costs me 10 dollar a year! with 200mb space, 4gb bandwidth and php, mysql, addons domains, fantastico etc everything included.

Btw, I'm there from almost 8 months now with no problems. You can get more details here
