Hey!
Heres the scoop, if you visit...Uturnwebdesigns.com/gerald/index.html
You will notice a little "Floating Bar" on the left hand side. Well i need to fill the background with a transparent image. But the image must look like a powder you know? Meaning i dont want the image to be a square, i want it to be looking like the background is comvered in so, (basically)
I tried in photoshop and i m pretty sure i set it to transparent, but when i load the image into the layer, it is just one big white square.
Any help asap would be great!!!

on the 2nd thought, I think using the correct matte color will not render the tranparency nicely when it's over the text...

to use a "perfect" matte, you need to use PNG but then there'll be crossbrowser problem...

So what should i do?
I tried makeing the background transparent in fireworks, and photoshop, but it still looks like a gray box when i bring it up in the browser, and you cant see through it.

if the "background" of "the transparent image" are having different colors, or have writings in it, etc, then you should use PNG (not GIF) to render the tranparency correctly.

but that wont work on IE (IE dont support PNG transparency)

there might be other ways to work around your problem, like using adjusted opacity of the background color in CSS, but I never tried those, sorry :|

Hiya

I can see through it, using Safari and Netscape on a mac.
Looks OK.

The main problem I can see is that your site does not
render well at all on Safari. Have a look at

for a screenshot.

Seems to work fine in Netscape though.

yes it's working in firefox and IE also... you still use GIF I see. I didnt know there's a way to show a gif transparency correctly over different background colors... or maybe because the bg color and the bg text color are not too different?

anyways, congrats :)
