Hello,
I own my own small electronics store and I want to establish myself on the internet. Although I consider myself to be a computer knowledgeable person, all of my comprehension ends at web development. I am attempting to host a webpage through hostmonster.com, this works alright except for I don’t know what I’m doing. I want to start an E-Commerce and, I’ve tried to set up OS Commerce (a free tool associated with hostmonster). I don’t know what I did wrong but it just isn’t working. Go to www.DtechD.com. I don’t know what the problem is or how to fix it (hostmonster’s tech-support is less than satisfactory).
What I would appreciate most would be if anyone knows how to fix this or knows a better E-Commerce solution. Please note that I am a novice and I have an extremely tight budget.

The commerce software relies upon having global variables on. But, it appears that your web host has them turned off (more info here: http://us3.php.net/register_globals).

Having globals on is not a secure approach. For example if the program sets a variable such as $admin that is set when someone logs in with a secure password, it is possible for someone to pass the correct variable without logging in. Of course, it requires the person to have knowledge of how the software works.

So, you could get your host to turn on global variables or find another eCommerce software. Sorry, I don't have one to recommend.

Ha ha! That's classic.

In any event...you could always try turning register_globals on in just the OSCommerce directory using .htaccess or php.ini depending on how your host is configured.

There are definitely alternate software out there as well.
