I'm not exactly sure whether I have a POP3 account here or an SMTP one. In my CP it says "POP3" but I seem to have to connect through SMTP servers on Mozilla Thunderbird...
The problem I'm having is connecting to my websites emal "----@gtag.gtagaming.com" - I can recieve email, but not send it. I've literally tried hundereds of settings to try and do this. And in return, I got hundereds of errors. One involved me actually being able to send a message to myself via the email that I was trying to send to, which is odd to say the least...
I can go to http://mail.edgenetwork.org to write mail there, but I want to use Thunderbird and I want the neccessary information so that my forum board can also email via that adress.. At the time of writing, these are my settings in Thunderbird:
Server Settings
Server Type: POP Mail Server
Port: 110
User Name: admin@gtag.gtagaming.comOutgoing Server (SMTP)
Server Name: gtag.gtagaming.com
Port: 110
Username: admin@gtag.gtagaming.com
At the moment, the error I get when sending is:"An error occured whle sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: +OK, Hello There.."
... Which has got to be the funniest error message possible, after "Negative Vibes". I've also had this message:
"OK, POP3? That's cool"
(something like that, anyway.)
I've previously tried changing the server name to "localhost" and "mail.edgenetwork.org" as well as plenty others that are less likely to work. I've changed my username countless times and mix'n'matched all of them. I've set the port to a few different things too, but 110 seems to be the most successful.
Localhost error:"Sending username did not succeed [...] unsupported domain."
mail.edgenetwork.org error was the +OK, Hello There one again...
I'm just about out of ideas... I don't know what the problem is or how to retrieve the correct settings... So I need help, really.

That doesn't work. If I set it to that, it won't connect to the server at all. Wheras if I set it to 110 it connects, but then gives an error.

Well, port 25 should connect - it sounds like a firewall issue? or maybe your ISP is filtering SMTP connections?
SMTP uses port 25 by default - if you switch it to 110 ( the pop3 port) then it will try to connect w/ pop3 protocol is 'speaking the wrong language' - so to speak ( the 'Incorrect Greeting' message ). So leave your SMTP port at 25.You can test it:
From a command prompt window:
telnet gtag.gtagaming.com 25When I do it, it connects & says:
220 edge1.edgenetwork.org ESMTP qpsmtpd 0.28 ready; send us your mail, but not your spam. What happens when you try? (Probably a 'Connect failed' message?)
The problem is with your network connection - disable your firewall. If your firewall is disabled & the above telnet command does not work - contact your ISP & ask if they're filting SMTP traffic - alot of them block external (not their own) SMTP servers to try & mitigate spam. But until the test above works, you're not going to be sending SMTP through that server.

Oh, and I forgot to add - try it from a different internet connection if possible to test your settings.

Mmm... Yeah. Cannot connect. I don't use Firewall (they're pointless in my eyes).
I'm on PAYG Wireless Broadband from the 3 mobile service. Which could be a problem but since it's a "no contract" thing I would have thought it'd be pretty unrestricted.
I've just sent an email to them anyway... By the way, what settings do you think I should use for my Forum to send the emails? (I'd assume that the forum hasn't got any restrictions).
