hello, i dont know know a lot about web sites and or hosting. i was wondering what would be the easiest way for a novice like me to host a web site for the intention of selling products. i know i would have to regester a domain name, but then who would be the best for hosting my website. how would i protect my customers privacy?

Hi Fritty,
Great questions. As you mentioned, one of the first steps is to purchase a domain name. This can be done through godaddy.com, netsol.com, etc. GoDaddy.com is probably one of the more economical sites.
Next, you will need to determine what functionality you would like for your website to have. Write-out a list of the items you would like for you and/or your customers to be able to do. For example, online ordering, save orders for reuse, administration (do you want the ability for you to be able to add/edit/delete products, users, etc.). Once you determine the functionality, it is then only a matter of finding a suitable web host that can accommodate your needs.
As you mentioned, one of the biggest considerations should be security. You will want to make sure you have SSL on your website. Many hosting providers have packages which are for e-commerce sites. These provide you with shopping cart features, SSL, merchant accounts (for credit card processing), etc.
I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
