SHA Encryption

Specs: Windows 7, 2GB RAM
In PHP I know that they have a function to encrypt text and files with md5 and SHA using md5(), sha() and sha1_file() but md5 is limited to 128 bits and sha1 is limited to 160 bits. What I want to do is implement encryption using SHA-2. Specfically SHA-512.

Is there anyone way I can do this just using the default php package and if not what backend can I download to be able to implement this change.

SHA and MD5 are not encryption functions, they are hash functions, you can never recover the input.

It looks like SHA-512 is available w/ the PECL Hash package.

hash("sha512", $text);

and you may need to install the PECL package
