i am not sure how to get rid of it

if you did not install it and it showed up then you must have said yes to something that allowed it to be installed

download a free spyware scanner from www.lavasoftusa.com and check to see if what you have is spyware and whether they can get rid of it for you

As Serge said, it sounds like it is a garbage ware thing that was downloaded while you were on the internet.

The program that Serge gives a link for is called Ad-Aware. Another one is Spy-bot. I use both because each seems to find things that the other doesn't.

Also, Spybot now has a setting (under the Immunize section) that blocks the automatic downloading of most garbage ware. I don't know the web address for Spybot. Go to www.komando.com and use the Kim's Shareware and Shareware Archive menu options to look for SpyBot. I've down a websearch before on spybot and find a lot of garbage that isn't the program that I'm talking about.

About once a week or so, or whenever I notice stuff like the search deal that you've mentioned, I run both of these programs (be sure to update them from the internet first) and I have them delete anything that they offer up as bad.

I used the advanced option in the Internet Explorer then tools at top (next to help) then internet options, then advanced. I unticked the enable third party browser extentions, however I think this would get rid of google tool bar etc. Thought I would put my option in, this may be a way of not getting it again
