Hi there all,

There are so many companies out there that promise to get your website on the "Top 10" ranking on Google etc..

BUT, how do I choose the best one? Anyone please have any recommendations of companies that they use?

Many thanks

My opinion:

Don't pick ones that promise a 'top 10 listing' or some kind. What'll happen if 11 people in the same field use their service?

Not to mention if they use "tricks" to gain top position. Your site might be able to be on top for a month or two, then when google finds out you'll be banned forever.

Take a look here:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/seo.html

All legal & ethical SEO techniques are there around that page. You might be able to do it yourself without hiring some SEO service.

And one thing to keep in mind, if people can manipulate search engine ranks, then search engines won't be useful anymore (at least for me). Imagine when irrelevant sites always comes out as #1 on every search.

building backlinks is crucial to getting high ranking with search engines and i doubt very much that these companies would build sufficient backlinks for you in order to help you get top 10 ranking

consider the case where your site targets a very competitive market where the top 10 sites have high quality backlinks, how are they going to help you achieve top 10?

i would be very careful about such claims
