What are the tools (dreamweaver, frontpage, phpedit, etc.) you use when doing web design and programming in PHP or what tools would you recommend?
I'm starting into the PHP programming world and web design (html, xhtml) and don't know what are the best tools out there. I guess I want to start right with the best. Money is not a problem.
Thanks in advance.

I am using just a plain old text editor, but I am currently experimenting with a slightly more advanced editor called "cEdit". It is a freeware program. I think I like it because it is capable of colouring text.
I cannot get used to the programs you mention for writing scripts. They can be great for design purposes, but I usaully let someone else design my pages. If I get the templates he makes, I make them dynamic with PHP and add some more advanced scripts for forms, databases etc.
This is a common method for building sites and is used by many people and businesses.good luck!

Heck if money is no object, why not go for Zend's Studio product? It looks pimpin'.
Personally, I use Maguma studio (the free version) and have been pretty happy with it.
For regular HTML editing, I usually just use Notepad, but that's only because I'm too lazy to find something with syntax highlighting.
For a browser, nothing beats mozilla's firefox with the developer plugins to debug javascript, validate css and html, DOM inspector, etc.

For PHP, HTML and CSS work, I use Notepad too. I wish I did have a program that was exactly like Notepad but with syntax highlighting. It's probably because I'm too lazy to find a better program too, lol.

my favorite editor is UltraEdit. it also has syntax highlighting and everything you need in a text editor. it works with all types of text files (php, C, html, C++, java etc.). www.ultraedit.com
TextPad is another similar editor.
A+ Certified

For PHP development...
Windows: Textpad (http://www.textpad.com/ for you lazy folks ;) ) and Dev-PHP at http://devphp.sourceforge.net/.
Linux: 100% VI

I used TextPad on Windows and BBEdit on Mac OS X. I've used UltraEdit and is liked it quite a bit.
