Specs: Windows XP
For those of you looking for a way to open your home page when opening a new tab in Firefox without having the extra click on the home button, just download and install a small plugin that will do just that. This tiny add-in is available on Firefox web site. The name of the add-in is "NEW TAB HOMEPAGE 0.4.3"

That seems a bit unnecessary when the icon and Ctrl+Home shortcut is right there. Add-ons slow the browser down just being enabled, they need to be updated, and they further slow down the process as they check for updates. I'm sure a small handful of people would find it helpful, but I don't see the point.

Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily, but you're welcome to PM me as a reminder.

Ctrl-Home doesn't do anything in Firefox 5.0.

I agree with OP that this is a necessary feature. But agree with responder that we shouldn't have to get an add-on to get this functionality. Should be part of Firefox.
