OK, I've been using Netscape 7.2 browser for a long time, but with every "critical update" that MS pushes out, it breaks more and more often (gee, I wonder why?). Anyway, I just upgraded to Netscape 8.1 because I wanted to preserve all my settings, mail, etc. while going to a new browser which hopefully isn't so vulnerable to MS's tricks (for a while).
I have two annoying problems with 8.1: 1) I can't get it to remember my account names and passwords, and 2) the local mail handling seems to be gone. For the form auto-fill stuff, I took the default settings, which claim that it will ask me if I want to remember form entries. I also told NS to import my form fills (passwords) from 7.2, but neither the "Formcard" Manager nor the "Passcard" Manager show anything! If I manually fill in account name and password, the system does not remember it, nor even ask me if I want it to remember it. How do I get this thing working?
As for the email, how do I get this "Webmail" thingy to behave something like the old Netscape Mail & Newsgroups? I want it to download email to my PC and then let me go through it and read/discard. I don't want to keep my email on someone else's server -- I want it where it belongs, on my PC.
My apologies for posting these questions on the Web Development forum, but I don't see any other place to put them. Suggestions are welcome if I should repost this elsewhere.

Personally, I used Netscape 7 and upgraded to 8.1 with same problems, Hope you figure them out, I sure didnt. But now I found a better Explorer i like, Slimbrowser.. You can get it here.

Well, after enduring yet another sudden crash of NS 8.1, I have decided that it is a PoS. I never got email or saved passwords working, and the crashes were the icing on the cake. I am giving Firefox 1.5.0.5 a try now. I'm still on NS for mail service, but at some point I'll try migrating to Thunderbird.
