I have made a site that requires a horizontal menu. The one I currently use isn't cross-browser compatible. I was looking for a free one. More specific, one that will have a #6B5FD4 background and when the mouse is over turn to #000080 with white text. Or if anyone knows of a nice menu that doesn't have ad's, is free, and supports all browsers, please let me know! I searched the net and havn't found any good ones. Thanks!

Check out www.dynamicdrive.com.
Go to the Menu/Navigation tools link. There are numerous menu systems. One of the first listed is HV Menu. I've used that. It can be configured to be horizontal or vertical and many different aspects are configurable (including colors).

Hi,
I've written a quick menu for you using CSS. I don't know whether it works with all browsers but I'm pretty sure it will:
I hope this helps,
James

Sorry,
Server went down. Now uploaded to http://www.james-greenwood.co.uk/hozmenu.html. Contrare to what is says, I've fixed the indent problem (as you can see).
Post back what you think,
James

Wow, thats a nice menu you created. I like it alot. Is it viewable by all browsers?
I would like to use it, can I just cut and paste it?

Thanks a lot. By the way, I knocked it up right after I read your post (from scratch).
I don't know whether it's viewable by all browsers; perphaps someone else can confirm? It definitely works on any browser built using the Mozilla rendering engine, though.
Yep, you should just be able to cut and paste. It would be easier just to save the page to disk and remove the bits you don't want. Please tell me where you use it, though.
Thanks,
James

This is the site I am making Click Here
I like your menu alot, but it doesn't help at all if all browsers cant view it. I have a menu created my Microsoft that is very old. All versions of IE can view it cirrently. And Netscape won't see the menu at all. I need a menu that is cross-browser capable.

I've tested it fully on Mozilla Firefox and it works fine. If you've tested it on Internet Explorer then we've ensured 90% of browsers can view it. Can anyone else please test it in their (other) browser, so we can confirm nearly 100% compatibility.
In text browsers (which don't support CSS), it will simply show up as a bulleted list with hyperlinks in it. For example, you can see what it looks like in Lynx -- a text-based browser.
I'm guessing you're planning on putting the menu in that (currently blank) top-middle frame called testmenu.htm. That should work fine.
JamesBTW, the reason your first link didn't work is because you forgot to put http:// at the beginning. :-)

Actually, the top-middle frame called testmenu.htm is my menu. You must have went to the site with some other browser. The menu is created for Internet Explorer. Thats why I was asking for a good menu. Because only 90% of the people that come to the site even see the menu. If you go back and look at the site with IE you will see the menu I currently use. I will test your menu with Netscape and see what happens.
