Comment: hey, i want to learn php and i want to be able to test code that i do without having to upload it to a server, esp. since i'm having problems finding a free host that'll let me do what i want to do. so i installed the apache server 2.0, installed MySQL 4.0.20d, and php 4.3.7<period> so the apace server is working, i can connect to it, so can the computers on my network and thats all fine and dandy. but i'm trying to set up the mysql and i'm having problems. when i try to do the test c:\mysql\bin\mysql show according to the mysql site its should have databases|mysql / test but i only have the test. it wont allow me to do the other 2 tests either, for the c:\mysql\bin\mysqlshow mysql it says access denied for user '@localhost' to database 'mysql' but c:\mysql\bin\mysqlshow test works. the other test command they have for u to do doesn't work either. anyone know whats wrong? thanks in advance.. ::tim

Reply: (edit)hmm.. odd.. w/o specifying a user it says that access is denied, but when i add the "-u root" after the path then it gives me output. however, its still not what the mysql manual says it should be. heres a pic of what it tells me: http://img16.photobucket.com/albums/v48/anarchy85/mysqlproblem.jpg
