Ok, hi. This may be a loaded one. My problem - my favorite security cam software was discontinued before I had the chance to purchase it, may get it on the secondary market, it allowed up to 4 webcams to be viewed on a single page and local save of stills.

I use Webcam 32 for one and have recently dabbled in 2 running simultaneously, easy to cycle them if 2 different cams, but problem arises with 2 identical type cams, computer recognition problems, etc., solved that problem with 2 folders with same drivers named different, installing separate using different folders with the drivers.

***********FIRST OF ALL I KNOW MY SYSTEM IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH, I DO HAVE A POWERFUL ONE ENOUGH WITH A 3.0 PROCESSOR ON THE WAY, THAT'S NOT AN ISSUE, ENOUGH MEMORY, LALALA.

***********I want to do this myself. But first of all I have 2 like cams cycling at intervals, (both not on at same time) although with new system can run 2 versions of Webcam 32 using "profiles". Now with two sessions of Webcam 32 running with 2 identical cams using different drivers in different folders, that is solved, but the problem exists, where do I pull the ip address out for the other cam, with only one it is: http://127.0.0.1:888 as below for local or your subsequent IP address and as below to stream.

<script language=JavaScript>

</script>

My question, how would u go about getting the IP address of the other cam i.e., the local address is http://127.0.0.1:8888 as above, what would the other one be for local save only.

*****************And then I substitute my IP address which changes on dialup every time before the :8888 to stream over the inernet, but again what would the address of cam 2 be.

Any help with this most interesting subject/project and "Surveyor Corporation's" web site really is of no help.

The template for online is as follows, just view the source code:

Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't quite follow everything you said, but from what I could understand...

You will NOT have a different IP address for the 2nd camera, you MAY be able to specify a different PORT. The 127.0.0.1 IP address is the interanl address of every coputer. The :8888 is specifying port 8888. Since both camera will be attached to the same computer, they cannot have two different IP addresses. You need to check the manufacturers site and the documentation you received with the cameras to determine if you can change the PORT.

You could always try to be adventurous and open one set of the driver files in a text editor and do a search for 8888 and replace it with another number (8889?).

There is a place to change the ports see my cam setup for internet setup:

http://www.geocities.com/woodwardvlw/

I tried that but it didn't work.

What I am hearing but have not tried it yet, once my processor speed is high enough (new computer) 3.0 ghz I will run Webcam 32 with profiles, which is more than one instance of the webcam at one time, named as u said in different folders for Webcam32.

The only way I got two "like" cams to work, two exact same brand is to make a separate folder for the driver and name the folders differently and installed the cams manually going to opposite folders.

My challenge though is to bring two or more cams together on the same web page, was going to use the javascript as per my example:

http://www.geocities.com/woodwardvlw/

Maybe change the ports and have two separate instances of Webcam 32 running at the same time. But as of right now my processor, an 800 mghz Celeron will not run the two on video feeds, right now I have Webcam 32 set up to alternate 3 webcams 2 like cams and one different, cycling through the cams every so many seconds a piece and it has worked fine with no crashes even on 384 mb SDRAM DIMM, only had one problem with I got past 15000 stills, I believe that is a memory problem, need to go to max for my system of 512.

Although I am exploring other options such as WebcamXP which is supposed to upload several cams at once up to 5.

Thanks, any more suggestions, much appreciated.

The IP address of the local, not internet broacast of the cam is the 127.0.0.1

But for the internet, I have dial up and it changes every time I dial up and I have to edit the page on the server to my active IP address as follows:

Hi Virgiel,

In regards to having to edit the page to your active IP address, if you'd like I will make you a program for free that will edit the page and change the IP address references in one click. In fact, I might even be able to automate the whole process.

If you're interested, please send the template.html page my e-mail as the link is broken on the page you referenced.

I am not affiliated with WebCam32 but I have devloped my own web cam software that saves video when motion is detected at

http://www.dreamstruct.com/products/webcamsecuritysystem/

As long as you are on a PC and not a Mac I can help you. I am more than happy to provide you with this temporary fix.
