I have a question about meta tags and how I read that they are not that great a thing and most seach engines don't pick up on them.I got to thinking and thought well what if you placed your tags on your web page but made them the same color as your back ground so you couldn't see them.Do you think that might have a better impact as well if you like in your source code.

Meta tags are put in your code, not in your page. Accordingly, you cannot change the color of meta tags.

And in addition to that, trying to hide text attempting to increase your search engine rating is probably the oldest trick in the book. Trust me, Google, Yahoo, etc; they all can detect these kinds of things and doing so will only hurt your ratings.

Meta tags are still worth using, but use them correctly. However, the best way to increase your search engine rating is by simply offering a good website with content people want and/or like. Trying to "beat the system" hurts more than it helps.

i would recommend that you use meta tags as there are still some search engines that use them - in fact, they won't list your web site unless you have meta tags

Yep. I think you'll find that the sngle element that carries most weight amonst search engines is the title tag. So if you're not going to use meta tags, you won't have a title tag.
