Comment: You people who help out with java questions, do you actual know the code from the top of yr head or do u have a big folder full of scripts which do certain things when you need one of them, just simply copy n paste the code into yr site? Regards, Jamie McCoy

Reply: (edit)I assume you're talking about javascript, not Java...Two entirely different animals. It depends on what they ask for. Most of us probably know enough of the language to do most simple effects (open a new window, change style, image rollovers, etc.) without finding previously made scripts, but for more complex things like dropdown menus, I typically look for prebuilt scripts. This answer probably isn't very surprising...If you're looking for something more specific let me know. -SN

Reply: (edit)I was just curious, im getting into using java script for my websites, but just wanted to know if most people simple call upon pre built scripits when needed, rather than script them themselves What ive done is created a new folder which i use to store notepad files which contain java scripts to do certain things. works for me thnx Regards, Jamie McCoy

Reply: (edit)Some questions asked on here are fairly trivial... so most people probably throw out the answer right after reading the question with no research, etc. I put code snippets into a MySQL database and also store them as text for reuse. There is no sense in reinventing the wheel. My collection of "code snippets" are based off my personal libraries as well as things I have pulled from public domain that I have found useful. IR
