email is the best option in terms of speed and simplicity

Why is it taking so long to get to you?

If I were you, I would use some nifty PHP (or other server-side hosting language) to connect to your computer and send it a message.

On your computer, you have a custom-made program running which listens for incoming data on a particular port. The PHP script sends the IP address and message through to this port and it is outputted into your program main text area upon arrival.

You would only have to have this programming running during your broadcasts since this is when people will actually want the requests, of course.

The program would be very simple to develop, you could make it very easily in Visual Basic or Visual C++. It just has to have the Winsock control, then you tell it to bind itself to a port number on your machine. When it receives a connection request, accept it. When it receives data, add it to the data in the main text area of the program.

I hope this helps,

James

AOL make an instant messenger to use from your site just as you stated. I used to have it on my site but I never use my AOL instant messenger anyway so I took it down. You can go to the AOL IM section and find out more about it. It is a pretty cool setup.
