If you wish to host your own website you have a great deal to learn, far more than you can learn by asking questions on any forum. As a self professed beginner you would be advised to have your site hosted by a reputable hosting company.

just wanna ask the basics that needs to be learned. thanks for the advice, I know a website that is being moved to a new server because of ddos attacked. I dont know if hosting company can handle those ddos attack. so, i think its more appropriate to use a server. I mean, first, if I will host my website, I need a hardware right? how much would it be? sorry, kinda new to this.

If you wish to know about facebook servers you should contact facebook. But one thing you can be sure of: they spent far more than £800-£2000.
Hosting a website is a job for a professional. If you are not then you should use professional services - a reputable hosting company. If you try to do this yourself you may end up spending a great deal of money for a system that does not meet your needs. DDOS attacks are likely to be among the least of your concerns.
