Hello all:
I am using IIS 6.0, and i have a strange problem with one of my websites. I dont think i made any changes to it since it worked fine, but nw i get the 403 error when i attempt to access.
ive tried everything- anon access was on, read rights enabled. i eve tried giving the "everyone" group access to the inetpub folder- nothing.
i created another website on a different port, tried it- same error.
i do have one website on this iis installation that works fine...
i checked ssl requirements- none. ive restarted the server- nothing.
any ideas?
thanks much for any assistance

It sounds like you may not have the default page set up correctly...If IIS doesn't find the default page for the website, it will try to list the contents of the folder, but if that feature is turned off, it will issue a 403.
Try accessing a specific page of the website instead of just the base address and see if that works.
Good luck,
-SN

Thanks very much for your intuitive response. You are absolutely correct.
I had a web programmer developing my site, I wanted to view it for the first time, this error happened, I thought it was my end.
As it turns out, his index file was in .html format, i switched that to .htm- works great.
Thanks again for your response.
