On my homepage I use tables. The borders are invisible to IE explorer but not invisible to Firefox. Is there something I need to do to the html code to get firefox to view these borders invisible?

By default, every browser displays borders on tables. The piece of code you have to disable table borders is probably IE-specific, in other words: non-standard.
Please post the URI of your home page, so we can dig deeper and find the cause.
