I just setup Xampp (Its a program that installs Apache with OpenSSL, PHP, MySQL, etc.) It comes with a default certificate for HTTPS. I visited my server using HTTPS and it says the certificate is expired. Thats fine, but does that affect anything? Everything is still encrypted, right? I don't care if it tells me over and over its expired, I just need to make sure it works.

Nope, doesn't matter. Even if it's expiered or a self-signed certificate, the information is still encrypted.

One thing though, is that if you are running an expired SSL, and someone tries to communicate with your site through it, the invalidity may prove to be a barrier.

This is the case when using CURL.

Looking for a bulk sms gateway or just want to send sms? Let me know, that's what i do!
