I want to learn PHP, but I don’t know what r the requirement for running PHP pages, I have little idea about the ASP.Net, so web server concepts r clear to me but I want to know what compiler r needed, how to start it, is any IDE is there etc some basic beginning guidelines, I tried google but not getting very basic info in proper order
Pls someone help me

i would like to point you to the site that i used to get started with php ... it gave me a really good start http://www.tizag.com/phpT/ ... hope it helps you too
the ide i have used and been happy with is from http://devphp.sourceforge.net/ ... it is a bit tricky to work out which version you want and to install it, but well worth the effort
serge

Any modern OS can run PHP nowaday, it even works on windows. But I would recommend you install Linux (Ubuntu is nice), then just install PHP from the package manager.
The PHP site is also great, if you have a question on a function, just go to http://php.net/functionname like: http://php.net/echo
Almost all the pages have examples & user comments, so it's really easy to get started.
Much simpler than using ASP.NET, IMHO.
