I was just wondering how would one go about getting a
site uploaded to the google database, so that when one
searches google for something, the website shows up?

submitting your web site to google will not guarantee that your web site will show up in its results in order for your web site to show in the first 2 pages of results, you will need to look into the area of 'search engine optimization'

Google has "crawlers" It will randomly find your site and add it to the database.
Post your site on a few popular forums, along with submitting it to Google.
