Hi.

Do you think the photos are too big in height and width for viewing in most browsers? I believe AOL browsers may have a smaller viewable area than Internet Exploere.

the trick i use is luanch the website in a popup box

roughly 750 * 550

that way your site is the same size for everyone and you can control how they view your site

Check out my site for an example

the downside is people with little knowledge of how their pop up stopper works may be prevented from viewing your site

Or worse, they think your trying to spam ad them, so they never see it and move on.

Besides, people using tabbed browsers may prefer to have it open in the existing window rather than spawning a new one.

It's great to offer choices, but not so great to fix your users into your styles. (Isn't that the reason behind css in the first place?)

Just my half-pence.

Yep...I've been to your site before Jamie, but tonight when SP2 blocked the pop-up on your site, I just shut the whole thing down. I absolutely do not like when web designers try to decide what's best for me. I like viewing the websites how I like to view them.

I agree with Bryan...I'm not gonna jump for the ctrl key when I open a website. I'm going to leave.

Steve,

I think you're fine. I don't use aol but, you were thoughtful enough to reduce the pic on your home page from 640x480 to 200x150. The thumbnails on your other pages are clear and small enough for dial-up users to run through. For those with high speed connections, everything loads just fine at full size.

Best I can suggest at this point is for you to find a machine using aol as a browser to see for yourself how everything looks.

Frankly, for a commercial site, I try to keep image sizes down as much as possible for dial-up users. However, on my personal site, I pretty much put everything up I feel like as long as it'll show up on a monitor set to 800x600 resolution. Occasionally, I don't even worry about that.

Should be an aol user by to give an opinion.
