In order to use Front Page's built-in hit counter, your host has to have Front Page Extensions enabled on your account. Otherwise, you'll have to take Fambi's advise and find another type of hit counter.

I would try either statcounter (http:\\statcounter.com) or okcounter (http://www.okcounter.com). Statcounter will not have a visible counter on your webpage but will give you a password and only you will be able to view the stats. With okcounter, you can select from hundereds of skins for your counter and you will get detailed statistics and one to put on your web page.
