hiding real URL's

Specs: Windows XP
hii all, i am facing a big problem. i have a website in which links(eg.) have been populated with php file references. my problem is , i dont want them to appear in the address bar..i want some user friendly URL to be shown in the browser. like if the link looks like then it should appear like http://myweb.com/product/2

will URL rewriting will help in this?? please suggest a way to get out of this mess.... thanking you all

here is basic example for myweb.com/product/2 open .htaccess.and add the following code

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^product/(.*) /product_page.php?id=$1

above code make your myweb.com/product/2 page to get data from http://www.myweb.com/product_page.p...

if you need to know more google how to use RewriteEngine in .htaccess.

You can use java script to hide your URLs.
Explore status bar updating in javascript (window.status).

But, yeah, .htaccess is the ultimate way to implement this.
