i do a website for my band and we have recently recorded a cd. I have made .mp3 files of the songs but am unsure as how to upload them onto my website so that when people click on them, it opens the default app. As it is just now, when you click on it, it plays the music in internet explorer and i would prefer to use media player or winamp or something. Can anyone help? thanks

No Jamie, letting the visitor download the file and play it at their own convenience is best. MP3 take forever to load, nobody is going to stick around waiting for 1MB per minute of music on just one web page to load, unless they are already a fan.
This goes back to web design basics... never forcing things like sound onto the visitor without giving them the option to use an Off switch. As a guide, I use dialup and if I even see "opening {filename}.mp3" in the status bar I kill the page instantly, no matter who it is about or how much I enjoy the band.
I recommend you zip each files separately so a user can save and virus scan without fear of malicious activation. That's the responsible way to do it.
