Hello
I am trying to set up a FTP server on my home computer. I got the server program downloaded and all. I have a dynDNS.org account, my router is sending port 7698 to my computers address, and I have the server set up to run on that port. However, when i type in my external IP address in my browser it says it times out. When i type my internal address it logs in just fine. I have tried multiple server programs but can't seem to find the problem. I even tried other ports and putting the computer in a DMZ. Do any of you have any idea what could be going on? Help is much appreciated!

Since you are running on a non-standard FTP port, are you appending the port number to your URL? Like this: ftp://mydomain.dynDNS.org:7698

Ya, I made sure too do that. It wont even work if I just type in teh external address. It only works when I type my internal "192.168.1.100". I saw one website that Linksys is particularily hard to work with this way, but I don't know why they would be any different. My router is the WRT54GS, and its running the default firware and everything.

After looking over your original post I see that it works internally , but not when you try the external IP (or the dynDNS.org account as well I'm guessing). You have attempted using the external IP without the dynDNS.org account, correct?
Have you tried the external IP or the dynDNS.org account from a computer outside your internal LAN. I have seen problems when trying to hit your external IP from inside the router.
