Here are some things to look for if your web pages do not appear correctly when you load it to hosting:
- Check your URL definitions that you have coded on your web pages for your images and make sure that they are not pointing to your desktop and/or local folder
- Make sure that you are posting to the public, not private folder on your hosting provider
- Make sure that you emulate the directory tree in the public folder that you have for your site. So for example, if your images are in a separate folder, make sure that you create a separate folder on your hosting as well.
You mentioned that you are also using Dreamweaver. You can use Dreamweaver's preview mode to see how your site looks without having to post it live.
As for web hosting...suggest that you opt for a low-cost hosting provider instead of free so that you can get customer support included.
