I am looking for a free alternative to Dreamweaver. I have already looked around on Google for hours and I have no idea what to download. Any good programs?

i don't think you will find an alternative to dreamweaver that is free and that has the same features
i have put together a cheap ebook that you may want to check out "12 FREE Software You Must Have to Develop Great Web Sites."

serge

So don't. All Serge was saying is that you are not going to find a free application with comparable functionality to Dreamweaver. There are plenty of free applications out there, but every one will be lacking in some respect. If there is something as good or better than Dreamweaver, then it won't be free.
Personally I hate WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver, but to each his own. Good luck in your search.

instead of nvu, try komposer ... it is a more reliable version of nvu
michael, kevin was referring to not wanting to spend money on buying my ebook :-)
kevin, it's ok if you don't want to buy it ... it contains fantastic free software but the choice is yours :-)

I'm not a Dreamweaver user nor a web page person. I did create some local html with Evrsoft. There is a free version
Look at this it may be applicable>

I did a little searching and found these
http://www.coffeecup.com/free-editor/
http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophi...
Hope these are useful

I've tried just about all of them and I keep going back to "1st Page 2000". I think this is the one that 'orange' is referring to. It is totally free.
You have to know some html, but it'll do most of the work for you. I've used it since it first came out and still think it's the best.
You'll have to look around to find the free 1st Page 2000 version. "First Page 2006" is free to use, but is really slowed down unless you pay.
Don't squat with your spurs on!

OpenOffice (or and modern MS doc app) compose then save as html.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

I went through every freeware website creator I could find, including these:
WebDwarf 2.5
Site Gen Wiz
Blaze Composer 3.0
Nvu
Dynamic HTML Editor 1.9
Selida
AmayaA Google search should turn up more info on each of these.
My favorite freeware program was Pablo WYSIWYG Web Builder 2. I don't know if that old free version is still avaliable though...
FYI, many office applications, Microsoft Word for example, can save as html files. Even freeware office apps have that ability, like OpenOffice Writer and AbiWord.
