I am running XPPro and use Microsoft FrontPage 2000 for creating webpages. I have noticed in the past couple of weeks( I reloaded the OS and Norton 2003) that whenever I save html to a php site that I do work on, there is an automatic insertion of some Java Script ( that I didn’t put in) into the html that apparently only I can see (other people that do work on this site do not see it ) I was told this is Norton Personal Firewall doing this but I cant find anything about this on the net. Is Norton doing this and if so why? It is a real pain to have to go and strip this out every time I make a change to the site only to have it put back in automatically for some reason. I have been using Norton PF with NAV 2003 for a while. I was running it under WinME until a couple of weeks ago. It was when i switched to WinXPPro and reinstalled the Norton that i noticed this phenom. I sent myself all my latest HTML and uploaded it with another computer that I use - no problem no java lines added. When I got back to this machine and checked the source code this line is included at the end and sometimes buried further up the coding depending on how long it is.
</body>
<script language="JavaScript">
</script>
</html>
On any other machine there is nothing to view between the </body> and </html> tags. it is only this machine. Something is causing me to view this on this machine. As for the site if i goto resave this html without making any changes the site wont allow me to post it due to security settings in the sites code that wont allow the use of java script. So I am at my wits end as to what is causing this. it is a pain having to go and find this additional unwanted stuff and strip it out everytime i want to update the site.
Thanks

hey, i have the same problem with the code insertion with Zone Alarm. they put in a privacy script, but thats only when i view the source of a page in IE. of course, even tho i have frontpage i done use it b/c microsoft is the devil BUT.. IE & FP are both microsoft products so this doesn't surprise me. i use dreamweaver and notepad to edit my pages.. i also have HTML-Kit and Firstpage (those 2 r free) and i've never encountered the code insertion in those. so i'd suggest simply switching your HTML editing software and seeing if that helps.
