Hi, I want to put a nice looking forum on my site with smileys and as many features as poss, my host, streamline.net, will only include databases such as MySQL for a large fee and I am keen to avoid this (incidently, is it normal to have to pay so much for MySQL on your webspace??)

What I want is a forum script that does not need these databases. Any ideas? So far, tiny tpf forum http://www.ralpharama.co.uk/tpf/
seems the best but is a little simplistic.

Thanks for any help or suggestions

If it is not using a database then it is using flat files which is very inefficient and more prone to corruption.

I don't know what you consider a large fee, but I've seen hosts which provide PHP & MySQL for $10 or less a month.

I consider this a large fee! and I don't mind inefficiency or corruption as long as it looks nice and the features are there!

Thanks all the same though!

Not at all. PHP and MySQL are included with most hosting packages for no additional fee.

What good is a forum if posts and or usr accounts are lost due to corruption?

Here's a company that offeres PHP and MySQL support as part of their package for only $2.99/mo. Or is that too much of your allowance as well?
