I am having some trouble in getting my Flash website to function. Within the main site file (entitled 'homepage'), there is a link to a separate SWF on level 1 (this SWF entitled 'portfolio'). From what I understand, the homepage should automatically be able to detect that separate SWF file, be it within the web shell or on my laptop. When I preview the site in IExplorer via DreamWeaver, the portfolio SWF will not load at all.
But the larger problem is this: The site will not load at all from the homepage. The homepage SWF file is only about 63 KB, but the preloader won't even show up. All I receive is a blank page.
I admit that Flash files do take a long time to load on my current connection (26 KBPS), but wouldn't I at least get a preloader? When I right-click where the file should be, I do not get the Flash menu (quality, rewind, play, etc.) like I should, but I get a web menu (Back, Forward, Save Background As, etc.), indicating there is no file on the homepage, even though the HTML coding indicates the file should be embedded.
I am not new to publishing sites in general, but I am new to publishing Flash sites, and I am totally stumped. Am I doing anything wrong, or could it be my connection is just too slow?
