Encoding of Videos

I am trying to code videos using HTML and Windows Media Player. Here is my coding:

<para name="URL" value="PawnandKing.dmv">
<para name="uiMode" value="full">
<para name="autostart" value="true" />
</object>

I uploaded the file PawnandKing.dmv from my desktop (where I originally saved it) to my website File Manager (like I have done with all of my files). The media player shows on my webpage but it is not showing the content of the video. The screen stays black. Can someone advise?
