i need to use the Object tag over the Embed, so that i can make use of the refferer in order to stop hotlinking
however, with Object you have to wait till the file has downloaded fully before it plays

Prevent hotlinking using .htaccess? That's the absolute easiest way to stop that.

yeh, but my site uses da embed tag, which does not pass any refferer, so .htaccess cant see whether someone is coming from my site, or directly requesting the file..
