I've just created a personal website for myself. My name is Ryan Taylor Adams, so I bought http://RyanTAdams.com and set up my site there. I've also put AdSense ads on the site. The problem is that sense most of my sites content is about me (Ryan Adams), most of the AdSense ads end up being about the singer Ryan Adams. It seems that every ad is for "Buy tickets to Ryan Adams concert). I know I can block AdSense from displaying ads for specific sites, but is there anyway I can get rid of all ads relating to the singer Ryan Adams (short of changing my name)?

given that adsense determines the content of ads based on the content of the web pages, avoid using your name :-)

i would suggest you try using a graphic that contains your name rather than type your name ... this would be good for 'copyright ryan adams' and 'the personal site of ryan adams' ... the other mention to your name can be omitted with just 'this is my personal site'

see if that helps

given that adsense is about making money from people clicking on google ads, does it matter if they do display ryan adams ads?

i just come from your site and there were 2 ads for ryan adams, 1 for c++ and 1 for 'cool telstra caller tones'

hope this helps

I'm afraid that if I remove my name (by using images or what not) it will hurt me in the search engine arena. I'm just afraid that having ads about Ryan Adams (the singer) won't be temping for visitors to my site.

you raised 2 issues:

1. search engine: you are on first page of google for "ryan t adams" at the moment and you do raise a good point about hurting your search engine rankings if you remove your name

2. i am sure that people will understand that google is responsible for the ads and not you ... and, finally, i don't think that people will leave your site because of the ryan adams google ads

one thought ... why don't you increase the word frequency for things you are interested in or your site is about ... this way, google will more likely place ads about that than about ryan adams

hope this helps
