I am new to Dreamweaver CS3 - having built an earlier website in FrontPage using tables. I would like to use a 3 column table on my index page whereby the menu items are in the outermost 2 columns and stay that way on every page. Subsequent pages, however, would have perhaps 5-6 columns. Can anyone help? I have tried so many things, my head is swimming.

Hi, here's how to do it. Go to 'Insert' and select 'Table' (or do control-alt-T). A pop-up menu will prompt you to define the table. Input '3' for the index page and '5' or '6' for your secondary site pages. Or you can define all pages with '5' or '6' columns and just use the outtermost two columns are for your menu items. Dreamweaver CS3 will create the table for you to fill with your content.
