I created an internal only web site and I am using an old box running apache to host it. I am using Win server 2003 DNS with AD. I want to use a URL like internal.loc to point to the web server. I tried putting in fixed records in DNS to point to the server but it wont work. I can access the web server with an ip address. I also tried modifing the host file on a client to point internal.loc to the web server. That also does not work. DHCP has all clients going to my internal DNS server.
Must I use a specific url to stay local?
What section in Win DNS should put the url?
Why would my client ignore the setting in my host file?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi, are you trying to create an Intranet? If so, one solution is to set it up like an external web site only assign security login and passwords for access to it.
