I created an internal only web site and I am using an old box running apache to host it. I am using Win server 2003 DNS with AD. I want to use a URL like internal.loc to point to the web server. I tried putting in fixed records in DNS to point to the server but it wont work. I can access the web server with an ip address. I also tried modifing the host file on a client to point internal.loc to the web server. That also does not work. DHCP has all clients going to my internal DNS server. Must I use a specific url to stay local? What section in Win DNS should put the url? Why would my client ignore the setting in my host file? Any help is greatly appreciated
