Dedicated to what? Dedicated server is meaningless without some more information as to what type of server you are talking about.

I have a dedicated server. It is dedicated to serving web pages over the Internet. It cost next to nothing to put together as its a crappy old ADM Athlon CPU in it but it does the job.

what im getting at is im sure you know there is companies out there that sell webhosting. Most have two options.

1. is virtual hosting maening many accounts on one server sharing the cpu, memory and netowrk connection. these are the cheapper ones.

2. dedicated meaning you are the only person on the server. The cpu, memory and network connection is all dedicated for you to use.

I want to know who is the best and worst in this business... meaning, who is up the most and down the most. has the better support...

get what i'm meaning now???

the cheapest would be to run your own I'm quite sure you could get one dedicated server with you as their only client on the single server etc.. as you said but for the cheapest way just get a computer technician to make one and run it your self, otherwise your going to have extra cost such as storage and line connections that your not in control of charged to you by the people your dealing with.
When you get one made then your in control.
If the rental on the property the server is stored on quadupals you can move it, otherwise they people you deal with could persay make those changes to gain finacial control ovwer your server cost by adding on these extra bogus charges.

I have to rent a server. I"m in the middle of the woods and all there is out here is dial up. If I could get a T1 or other high speed internet to host a server, I would.
