Comment: justin, i love this new edition great move... however, I have a suggestion, how bout general PC discussion.... I've been wantiong to ask about some tech issues which constant more of a general theme than anyother forum already present, I know of course one person asking means nothing but purhaps you or others may feel the same... just an idea thanks
p.s. could you make the "check to recieve monthly computing information" checkbox default unchecked
again, thanks

Reply: (edit)Hello, The reason I am not all that keen on a forum such as the one you describe is ambiguity. I realize some issues do not belong on any forum. However, it could be argued that any issue belongs on a general forum. Lazy people might just default to that one instead of actually thinking about their problem. If that happens, the general forum wouldn't simply act as a "catch-all." It would have a whole range of issues that should be on other forums. This lack of clarity is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I would hate to introduce more of it. As for the default state of that checkbox, I leave it like that so the new-comers will see it. A fair amount of people sign up for that service, and making it unchecked by default would reduce that number. Since the majority of those posting new threads are new-comers to the site, I don't feel it to be that much of a problem. Its a lot easier for you to uncheck it (or ignore the popup) than it is for me to attract those people's attention in other ways. Justin

Reply: (edit)Justin, that makes sense... well what about the login thing, could you setup a link on the main page, to the login page? I seem to login from all over and I can't find a way to go straight to the login part, without first typing a message and then trying to post it... thanks

Reply: (edit)CodeOne, You can login, at any page you are on. If you've typed a response, and want to make sure you are. Right-click the My Computing.Net , and choose "Open in New Window", at the left of the page. If you are, it will welcome you with your username. If not, login, and then close that page. Then submit your follow up, on the other. I'm starting to ramble, so I'll stop. Hope that help some. Justin, just trying to help. :-) CrazyOne

Reply: (edit)CrazyOne, Thanks, it saved me from typing it. Maybe I'll add another login link somewhere. I'll look at it. Justin

Reply: (edit)codeone- Is it that hard to scroll down to My Computing .Net and click? That is all you have to do to log in correct?
