Hello,

I am interested in creating a web page that will allow me to post my favorite show clips on it, similar to youtube in the way that you can view it on the page and that you can have a code to paste in to facebook funwall, etc.

Have you got any interesting links. The only one that I could find is this one, but I haven't quite figured out what it is trying to tell me exactly.

http://drupal.org/node/187732

Never made a web page before and my ISP gives me something like 10 gig of space, using there domain...

I plan on using Expression, but at this point, just to create the page, I will use most anything.

Is it possible to save the you tube page, open it in expression, then change the images and stuff, and change the home domain and call it my own?

Drupal is a CMS (content management system)

I use linux for my webserver needs and drupal is available through the fedora repositories , to install and use and set-up for the main website, It's a very good CMS ,,, There is also another named Joomla,

and Wordpress, and there are still a few more, Most all of them depend on setting up a ,,, LAMP ( Linux ,Apache,MYSQL, PHP ) webserver, or WAMP ( Windows, A , M, P, ) server,,,

It Can be done,,,, However If your new to it, It will take some time to learn all the ,,, Modules, Components, PHP scripting, and other configurations in order to do it,,,

You may choose to just have a Look at Gallery2

http://gallery.menalto.com/

Probably easier ,, that way,,, There is also a way to embed the Gallery2 site into either Drupal or Joomla....

In either case someone else may have some better advice for you,,, Or some other items of interest,,, I just use ,,DDclient (Linux program to update IP address , with My dynamic Ip from ISP ) with DYNdns, to point a URL back to my home webserver, with an made up website name,,

Have fun Huh !!!

If you've never created a web page before and want something easy to do, you might consider using Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash. You convert your video to Flash format with the included software, then insert the Flash videos into Dreamweaver. It's quick and painless, but a bit pricey to buy the software (hint: register for a class at City College, use that to get the student discount on the software (about a 2/3 discount), then drop the class.

I want to thank you both for responding to my enquiry.

Mr. quacked, you seem to be very technical and I want to thank you for such insight to something I know nothing about. Having a webserver is not of interest to me as I do not want to worry about having a computer run 24/7(or however long you leave the computer running for). I AM interested in making a site with included media files(movies, pictures)for friends to enjoy as I tend to move around alot and facebook sometimes does not share the joys of what I have been up to...

Mr. boaster, I want to thank you for enlightening me as to the laymen(so to speak) way of producing such a page.

I live in a remote area of northern ontario, canada and the only references are either what you can find online or the local library. I did take out a copy of Flash CS3 for dummies but did not find much help in that book or in the MS Expression book.

So again to wrap up I want to thank your for both your help and I enjoy reading any tips you may have to fulfill my curiosity.

There are other ways of going about It ,,,

Embedding the file from a third party source , such as youtube,

Creating a file directory that will list the different files and linking to them,,,

using an embedded media player in the site configuration for playback and creation of a playlist for the files,,, ( probably a little more technical )

In just creating a simple web page , for a web server the easiest is to link to a certian file, and name it as a link,

Depending on how large the file is it will just be downloadable,

Sorry If setting up the Lamp server seems too Technical,,, It's really not all that hard to do ,,, Just takes a little time and Patience to set-up

In using expression for your website creation there is probably a little more that may be available, for allowing an embedded media player, to use for uploaded videos, I've used front page 2003 in the past However , nowadays I just haven't had the time to learn all that I've needed to learn to set up the type of site that you are trying to create,,, I do know that on my, Gallery2 site I can upload, and play most types of videos,,, By editing a few Php configuration files,,, In any case ,,, Have Fun with it HUH !!! and Good Luck,,,,
