Hi all.
Need your help or point me in the right direction to read again. I am fluent in pagemaking having used html/front page/javascript/Dreamweaver/Flash/Photo-
Shop etc..........My problem. Bought a domain from Go Daddy
and my hosting from Dotster, have pointed name servers to Dotster, lalala.Waited appropriate time and it brings in the scripting page, which looks like notepad when you go to my domain. Corrected this, saved to root directory, now my page will only come up after this goofy gray box that says "some files may harm your computer lalalal" and it asks me to open or download my page. This is so aggravating as I have worked hard on the design but need some guidance in this nagging problem, my entry page is index.html and it is in the root directory.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Can you give me the URL of the page so I can see what's happening. Is this only in IE or have you tried it in Firefox as well. IE is renowned for blocking scripting content unless the appropriate blocks are turned off. This can be a problem in presenting websites online to "newbies" who don't know where to modify there tools or it is in the too hard basket.
Regards,

The box pop up contents are as follows and it does not happen in Firefox, by the way thanks, great browser, no fantastic browser:
The pop up sasy File Download on the top bar of the pop upThe writing says: Some files an harm your computer. If the file
information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the
source, do not open or save the file.File name: garagesaledot
File type:
From: www.garagesaledot.com
-------------
Would you like to open the file or save it ot your computer?Buttons:
Open Save Cancel More Info
Check box here - Always ask before opening this file?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea but I do found something. If you access the site by using http://www.garagesaledot.com/index.html then no popup poppin on IE.
who's managing the webserver? I think maybe there's something within the "default document" settings.

ah ok sorry, it's dotster? so I suppose it's managed professionally? weird...
how about changing the index file into index.htm? Or is there a control panel for you, to change the webserver settings? Btw it's IIS, how much the hosting cost?

Thanks you all, think I am just getting it on my machine when I access the page. I pickec Dotster as a while back a lot of people on t his forum used them and I went on rep.
******I manage it myself if you can't tell, it's a learn as u go type of thing, I have had my personal page:
http://personalpages.bellsouth.net/b/r/brandil/ for about 5+ years and have dabbled in everything from photoshop/flash/html/
dreamweaver, in the process of learning
asp/php, etc. It's more of a long term project.I am not really having major issues, I successfully pointed the nameservers, lalala.
I am, however, wondering if it is the security of my personal computer settings as it comes in with Firefox normally.
I like certain things about the control panel and dislike certain things. ***Only
issues I am really having is it does no give me an option as the Linux version did to upload files directly from my unit. The windows version of the control panel does not give me that option, but the linux version did, I am considering switching plans to the linux platform. With my personal site, I ftp all day long to server/directories, lalalala no problems for
years. Now, I can't direct ftp access even though I have given permissions in control panel, made different ftp accounts, etc. Have used ftple for years and now Filezilla passive mode. The site is a project, if I do well, may venture into the business end of it. Will do most of the developing with Photoshop and Flash.
Will try all guys, thanks. I feel like I did years ago when I was happy building a text html page with one graphic of santa in his sleigh with Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer when I would study code for hours, etc. I have a lot of exploring and reading to do.
Thanks.
