Comment:
My siter in law had someone build a website and they created this website in PHP via a software called Joomla. This website is very, very basic and I want to switch the home to basic .html I am having a hard time figuring out how to do this. It seems like there must be a configuration option on the web hosting saying homepage equals /index.html instead of /index.php but I cannot figure out where and how I make this change.
Does this make sense to you ? Appreciate your help !
Yes, the webserver wil have a list of default pages. When you attempt to access the root of a folder the web server will search for the default file in order. As soon as it find one it will display that page.
Have you tried renaming the existing php file to something else? Then if index.htm is in the list it will display that file.
Otherwise, the manner in which you would specify the pages will differe based upon what type of web server you are on and the access you have to that server.
