can't put video on html page

November 6, 2010 at 16:48:00
Specs: Windows xp professional
I have a windows xp professional system and need some help.

1.How do I put a video into an html document?

2.Are there URL addresses for files in My Computer?

Answering either of these questions could help solve the other, so please tell me all you can.
I am using the coffeecup html editor, in case it matters.

Thanks in advance for any help,

1) Easiest to put your video on youtube & embed it. If you want to host it, you need to make it a flash video so it'll work on every browser. Youtube does all this for you AND provides hosting (remember, hosting videos gets expensive...). See

2) Not really - they're not internet accessible. So you can make a URL, but it'll only work when you're physically sitting at your computer.

Okay, so I got the part about creating a URL...but on a windows system(p.s.not linked to the internet!)how do I do it? Step-by-step instructions would be helpful.

Is it even possible to do without internet connection?
I should also note that some experience with using HTML would also be helpful.

You can create a local web page that essentially links to content contained on your hard drive instead of a web link.

Eg. Instead of it would be C://mytestwebsite/images/image1.jpg

I would suggest using software like Dreamweaver for something like this however unless your familiar with development type software it may be a bit to get your head around it.
