Continuation of the first 'Cannot access dot.tk domains'
http://www.computing.net/webdevel/wwwboard/forum/1017.htmlAs said before I cannot access dot.tk domains...
but I have learned a new bit of information, I can access dot.tk if I use a proxy...
So why can I not access dot.tk with my IP?
What could be going on?http://invisionfree.com/forums/DHzone/ - Give us a visit. ;

That domain may have your IP address or even your provider blocked. I know when working on certain websites ive put in measures to ban the IP address of robots and sometimes when ive had webpages come under attack ive even banned entire classes like anything from 68.xxx.xxx.xxx would be banned. You might try emailing the webmaster and asking him.
Can you resolve the domain name?
Can you ping the IP address?

and heres from google:
http://www0.dot.tk/vc00401e.htmland there're also discussion about some ISP (like timewarner/roadrunner I guess) that blocks .tk... don't ask me why, I also just found out :D I also have a couple .tk names redirect to a couple pages, now I need to rethink about it as not everyone can seem to use it.

Thanks guys, I never knew what .tk stood for, I owe big to little Tokelau
You're exactly right, I have Roadrunner HiSpeed online, I've called them up at least twice about this. They told me it was not their DNS and they weren't doing anything to it so both calls concluded with something on my end. I'm going to email the webmaster about my IP but my computer has DHCP I don't know if that makes it harder to unblock my computer
and what do you mean by resolve the domain name?
I can ping it I usually get 2 to 3 sometimes 4 replieshttp://invisionfree.com/forums/DHzone/ - Give us a visit. ;

"but my computer has DHCP I don't know if that makes it harder to unblock my computer"
Is the Roadrunner hispeed cable or dialup? Even though most cable are not advertised as static ive had the same one for over a year.
"and what do you mean by resolve the domain name?"
I can ping it I usually get 2 to 3 sometimes 4 replies.I mean can you get an IP address for that domains webserver. Which if you can ping it you can.
After re-reading your post, I have to agree that is something on your provider. If it was one domain it might be a blocking issue. But if its all domains with a toplevel .tk then it is probably not something they are all doing to block you.
So you can ping the webserver? If you can get the DNS lookup to resolve the name and then ping that server I cant think of any reason you shouldnt be able to view the page. What do you get when you try?
For instance when I ping the www.dot.tk server it gets resolved to an IP address of 62.129.131.33.

Okay
When I >ping www.dot.tk
I get
"Ping request could not find host www.dot.tk. Please check the name and try again."
So I guess that means no I don't get an IP resolveBut When I >ping 62.129.131.33
I get 4 replies backWhen I type the IP address in my browser it gets the Page Could Not be Displayed message
"So you can ping the webserver? If you can get the DNS lookup to resolve the name and then ping that server I cant think of any reason you shouldnt be able to view the page. What do you get when you try?"
how do you get a DNS look up?

I had this same issue and called twc a couple of times about it but nobody really knew what i was talking about finally someone told me that it is their routers they have problems with that domain he could not tell me why. So i went looking for a different dns server i could use and i found the roadrunner dns backup servers for their entire network and it works fine. I would post it but i am not sure they are not really blocking it. So if you really want it I am sure you can do i little digging and find it or just use a public dns server. I have to say i never had any issue with them blocking or throttling p2p apps wich is surprising considering they are owned by a big media company so why would they just block this domain.
