Hello, I need to set up a website for a customer and I would like a recommendation for best free or cheap (one off payment) for website hosting please. I would prefer one that doesn't have other advertising all over it as I would like it to look as professional as possible.

You want to find a free, professional host for a customer?!

You do realize that if it is free then they have no obligation to you, right? If a customer is serious about wanting a web presence they should be willing to pay something for that service in order to guarantee any reliability. There are plenty of decent hosting companies that offer basic website hosting for only a few dollars a month.

Hi... yeah sorry the customer is only trying to advertise a little holiday beach unit for rental... he just wants a simple page with a blurb and a few photos... so he won't want to spend a continual monthly fee for it... he's not a big corporate customer.

Another alternative is to host the web site themselves. For a simple site like this you dont need a particulary powerful machine. An old Windows 98 machine with an 800 Mhz CPU and 64 MBs of memory would do using Apache as the server.

The deciding factor would be the Internet connection they have. If they have a broadband connection with around 500 Kbs upload speed that would be sufficient.

Once it is set up and running the only ongoing costs are the costs of keeping the server running 24/7. You can turn the monitor off.
